Ideas to motivate and inspire you

I love listening to or reading a good book so I thought I would create a personal coaching recommended reading list to share some of my favourites with you. I will keep adding to this as I find new ones. If you would like to recommend any other books please message me via the contact form and I will look at adding them.

Taking time to read an inspirational book is a great way to take care of ourselves and open our minds to new beliefs and opportunities.

I Thought It Was Just Me (But it isn’t) By Brene Brown – Instead of constantly trying to be perfect and share an expertly edited version of ourselves to the world, this book helps you learn how to read and use connection and compassion to embrace all of you. It deals with shame, vulnerabilities, blame and criticism and is based on 7 years of research.

Playing Big by Tara Mohr – If you want to play bigger in your life and are tired of sabotaging yourself then this is the book for you. Tara helps you to see how you can learn to play big from the inside out in a collaborative way that fulfils you. You are worth taking the time to read this. It could change your future.

Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo – It is easy to dismiss a problem as not being “figureoutable” but if you follow the tips and advice in this book you will definitely make significant progress towards your dreams. Have a “What can I learn from this approach” and you will not go wrong. Definitely worth a read.

The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins – this is the book that gave me the “aha” moment that led me to leave my job and start coaching. The 5-second rule is a very simple effective tool that will help you in many areas of your life.

The Chimp Paradox by Steve Peters – This book was introduced to me by my wonderful coach. This book really helped me understand why I behaved the way that I did and how to learn to manage behaviours that did not help me.

Becoming by Michelle Obama – I find Michelle an inspirational woman who has a very clear sense of her values and works tirelessly to implement them in her family and professional life.

What I Know for Sure by Oprah Winfrey – I love Oprah and this book focuses on what we really do know for sure – which often isn’t what we think it is. This book is full of stories and anecdotes that had a lot of relevance to me and really made me think about what is really important.

Pig Wrestling by Pete Lindsay and Mark Bawden – this is a brilliantly written book that teaches a whole new approach for problem-solving. If you are stuck, have tried everything you can think of, or are just exhausted at trying to solve a difficult problem then this is the book for you. It takes less than 90 mins to read but will save you months of hard work and open your eyes to a whole new set of opportunities.
